Dogs! I've run with some. I've been called one. I've owned a few. I just don't want to die because of one. Enter cycling. One of our cycling community hit a mutt while bombing down a hill at 40 mph, 8 miles out in the SoIll hinterlands. He broke some bones but was able to ride limply back into town. But for luck of the draw, that could have been any one of the dozens of cyclists that ride that road weekly.
It happens to all sorts of people, all over the United States. It's not the dogs, it's the stupid people. Dogs are going to try to do what feels good. They don't care about artificial boundaries like the sides of roads. They must be restricted in some way that keeps both themselves and others safe. It's the stupid people that don't put those safeguards in place, "Oh, that dog don't chase no cars..." No, but the silly bastards will come out of their freaking fur coats trying to run after a bike.
So, here's a note to all the stupid people: Control your animals or carry HUGE liability coverage. My wife will come after you in a flash if I get taken out by your pet!
